Thoestrand

ThoestrandThoestrand is one of the most formidable of the Northern Kingdoms. Its alliance with Darrilhin has shifted the balance of power in the North, much to the dismay of the other kingdoms.

Monarch and Government

King Denob rules Thoestrand, as did his his ancestors all the way back to the days of Astrotolic. Just like his fathers before him, Denob holds his kingdom together with a combination of diplomacy, cruelty and hard justice. Despite a lack of literature on the nexus of political and military theory, Denob has an uncanny ability to channel his nobles’ restless ambitions into foreign battlefields without overextending the kingdom’s resources.

Military Strength

Typical feudal military. Many of Thoestrand’s nobles are competent and seasoned medieval warriors.

Civil Life

Much of Thoestrand’s economy depends on rivers that flow south through the country. They provide transportation, fishing, and power for mills. The kingdom’s peasants and other commoners enjoy an existence relatively free from internal strife and external threats. Disease kills more people than war in Thoestrand.

Local nobles serve as judges within their holdings and appoint sheriffs and constables to keep the peace. Traveling clerks of law appointed by the crown serve as courts of appeal.

No gods are tolerated save Gob; heresies are swiftly and violently eradicated by inquisitors and paladins of the Holy Guard.
