Gods

The people of Numenaria worship several primary gods. As in our world, the gods are living, breathing forces to some people and little more than superstitions to others. And, as in our world, the gods don’t intervene by appearing to the masses in their natural, holy forms spewing lightning bolts and issuing forth commandments. Only holy men and women, lunatics and charlatans claim to see the gods in their true forms or hear their voices clearly.

But do they exist?

Well, that’s complicated. If you are planning to run a game in this world, you as the game master can do whatever the hell you want–and encounters with the gods are certainly not out of bounds.

Will I treat the gods as existentially real characters in my stories? Probably not. The gods are as real as the people of the world make them. How’s that for mushy-headed mysticism?
