Cyrians are dog-headed humanoids from a distant star called Cyrius. Their muzzles are not adapted for speech, but they communicate telepathically.

Cyrians were brought to Numenaria to serve as overseers and slave-hunters; in the Old Days, they struck fear into the hearts of all those enslaved by the Vanara. Their natural ability to know their direction and location makes Cyrians excellent scouts; they are no longer called upon to hunt and harry escaped slaves. However, they make excellent scouts if they can be convinced to serve.

A very small community of Cyrians lives in Kyrishia. They are cordial but very secretive, expecially when it comes to their temples to Cyrius, their home star which they worship, and its “dark companion.” The number 23 is sacred to them.

Most Cyrians live as wanderers in the vast wilderness of Numenaria, often in the most inhospitable areas or those inhabited by the most dangerous monsters. If Cyrians are found in the service of evil beings in the wastes (or civilized people, for that matter), it is because they have been well paid and honorably treated. More than one evil lord has come to grief when he made the mistake of trying to enslave a community of Cyrians as if they were just another monster race to be exploited.

Cyrians are a proud race and are keenly aware that they are marooned on a once-decent world that is now barely livable by their standards. Cyrian adventurers obsess over finding a gate back to their home star Cyrius.
